The New Year is a time for fresh starts—a moment to reflect, refresh, and embrace the possibilities ahead. Here on the island, inspiration is everywhere, from the waves renewing the shoreline to the vibrant creativity of our local artists. It’s a perfect time to reignite your own creative spark, try something new, or simply pause to appreciate the beauty around you.

One of my favorite ways to kick off the year is by capturing those moments of awe that inspire us—whether it’s the glow of an island sunrise, the colors of a windswept dune, or the joy of creating something with your own hands. I’m excited to share a special giveaway designed to help you do just that.

Refreshing Your Creative Spirit by Capturing the Awe

This New Year, I’m inviting you to rediscover the beauty in everyday life with my free course, Capturing the Awe. Designed to inspire creativity and mindfulness, this micro course offers a quick and simple way to reconnect with your artistic side. For the month of January, I am offering this course free to my readers.

What to Expect

  • 30 Days of Inspiration: Daily prompts to awaken your creativity and mindfulness.

  • Quick and Easy Practice: Bite-sized sessions requiring only 5–10 minutes each day.

  • A Tangible Keepsake: Your very own Awe Box—a collection of mini works of art to revisit whenever you need encouragement or inspiration.

  • Deep Reflection: Weekly prompts to help you connect with the process on a personal level.

Each day, you’ll follow simple prompts designed to inspire small works of art—tiny reflections of awe and gratitude—on a square of watercolor paper. By the end of the course, you’ll have your own Awe Jar filled with meaningful creations that serve as a personal reminder of the extraordinary in the everyday.

This course is perfect for anyone—whether you’re just beginning your creative journey or looking to rekindle your artistic spark. It’s also a wonderful activity to share with your family. Gather around the table and let everyone create their own reflections of awe—turning the process into a fun and meaningful bonding experience.

For homeschool families, this course can easily be adapted into an art or mindfulness lesson, inspiring creativity while teaching the value of noticing and appreciating the beauty in everyday life. It’s simple but powerful, making it the perfect way to kick off 2025 with creativity and intention.

Correction

In last week’s column, I mentioned Vanessa Spittler’s first solo show. The event will take place on Friday, January 31st, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, not Tuesday as previously stated. I hope to see you there to celebrate this exciting milestone with Vanessa!

A Note of Encouragement

As you step into 2025, I encourage you to take a moment to refresh your creative spirit. Creativity can be as simple as sketching in a notebook, trying a new recipe, or capturing a photo of something that makes you pause and smile.

Let this year be one of discovery, connection, and celebrating the awe-inspiring beauty all around us.
