One of the things I love most about being surrounded by art is watching the way an artist’s journey unfolds. It is especially exciting for me when I can help them connect with a new space to showcase their art or with a new collector.
Some artists' seasons are bold and expansive—new shows, new partnerships, new cities, calendars full. Others are quieter, more intentional—pulling back, creating space, listening for what’s next.
That’s where our gallery favorites, Joseph Raymond II, finds himself this fall.

The Art of Redirection
If you’ve visited Padre Island Art Gallery, chances are you’ve paused in front of one of Joseph’s paintings. His luminous abstracts are layered with motion and light, almost as if they’re humming with music. They carry an energy that feels both contemporary and timeless—coastal without being literal, calming without losing vibrancy. His brushwork seems to move like waves, and his colors—rich indigos, warm sands, soft neutrals—hold the kind of balance that invites you to linger.

Joseph’s modern abstract artwork has been collected in homes and businesses worldwide. He has painted on scales both intimate and monumental, creating pieces that anchor a room and spark conversation. But like many artists who’ve poured themselves into years of gallery representation and travel, Joseph is ready for a shift.
This season, he’ll be pulling back from day-to-day gallery inventory across the U.S. It’s not a retreat so much as a redirection—a chance to create on his own terms and focus on what inspires him most.
An Opportunity for Collectors
What does that mean for us here on Padre Island? It means a unique opportunity. From now through the end of the year, all Joseph Raymond Art will be 10% off. That’s a substantial savings on original artwork, and a rare chance to take home a piece by an artist whose work continues to resonate deeply with collectors.
If you’ve ever stood in front of one of his canvases and thought, “One day…”—this may be that day. Joseph’s paintings don’t just decorate a wall; they transform a space, bringing rhythm, color, and emotion in a way few abstract artists manage to achieve.
And while we won’t stock his work in the same way going forward, this isn’t goodbye. Joseph remains a personal friend of mine, and through that connection, the gallery will always have access to his artistry. If you’re looking for a special commission or a custom piece created just for you, that door remains open.
Looking Ahead
Although we won’t be carrying ongoing inventory, we do plan to host periodic shows and workshops where Joseph’s work will return to the gallery spotlight. These will be temporary moments to connect with his art in person, to learn from his process, and to see what new directions his creativity is taking.

Until then, this fall is truly a collector’s moment—a chance to bring one of his pieces home and know that you’re holding part of his evolving journey.
If you are reading this in time, join us for our next Wine Down Wednesday at Padre Island Art Gallery tonight, September 17th, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. It’s the perfect evening to unwind, sip, and connect with neighbors and friends while surrounded by creativity. Joseph’s work will be part of our display—an ideal time to take another look at that piece that caught your eye.
For our Island Moon Newsprint readers seeing this after the 17th, we’d still love for you to stop by soon and enjoy his work before these special pieces find their new homes.

With the holidays around the corner, consider this your gentle nudge: a timeless gift for someone you love—or a well-deserved treat for yourself.
Because here on the Island, art isn’t just on the walls—it’s woven into our stories, our friendships, and the seasons we celebrate together.
The Art of Island Life will return next week with more stories and inspiration from our coastal community. Have a story to share or an upcoming event? Reach out to me at melissa@padreislandartgallery.com.
