About the Recipe
Soft, buttery, and perfect for garlic bread—easy enough for everyday baking.
This homemade bread is one of my go-to recipes—simple, soft, and full of flavor. It’s great fresh out of the oven or sliced and turned into grilled cheese sandwiches or cheesy garlic bread. I originally made it by hand, but now I use my bread machine—so much easier and just as delicious!

Ingredients
1 cup warm water
2 tsp yeast
2 tbsp white sugar or honey
¼ cup butter
2½ cups + all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
Preparation
Instructions:
In a stand mixer bowl, stir together warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
Add remaining ingredients. Mix with paddle attachment until dough forms. Add extra flour if sticky.
Cover bowl and place in a warm area (like the microwave). Let rise ~1 hour or until doubled.
Shape dough into a loaf and place in a buttered loaf pan. Let rise another hour.
Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes. Before browning, remove and pour melted butter over the top.
Return to oven and bake until golden brown.
Note: You can also make this in a bread machine for convenience—just add the dry ingredients first, followed by the wet, and let the machine do the rest. It turns out perfectly every time with half the effort!
